Hallo again and welcome to the first Newsletter of 2008!
La reine est morte: … …
we are sad to know that Abi is no longer our chair person and that that which makes her laugh must remain her own, very personal secret, as she is now beyond the powers of the executive’s coercion. My personal thanks go to Abi for all her support and please join us in sending best wishes for her future.
… … vive la reine!
read her words in the first article. And do join us in wishing Claire Bleasdale all good things for her chairship!
Next two articles salvaged from cyber space and making a welcome if belated appearance in the Newsletter: firstly thanks go John for his tribute to PeterWheeldon and then to Fran for the account of the Spanish day — ¡más vale tarde que nunca!
It was in my evaluation on a recent local In-Service day that I said that for the first time in my career I felt I was doing the right thing after I had read about the CfE. I hope Brian Templeton’s article on the Draft Learning Experiences and Outcomes for Modern Languages makes everyone enjoy the same feel-good factor.
Maureen Gilchrist has organised the next four contributions of which the first is an account of an interview with Mr Bobo Balde at Celtic Park followed by the initial reaction of three FLAs.
Onward and — I’ll leave the direction to your own inventiveness — to the 2007 Conference. We have, thanks again Mr Fergusson, a critique of the day and thoughts on the AGM.
Lastly there are some notes on individual seminars. Margaret Crombie’s power point accompaniment to her talk ‘Dyslexia and MFL What’s the problem?’ and Paul Ironmonger’s slides on Poland will be available on the web site.
But Finally: try these “French” sentences. 25 carat real and I could name the source. They amuse me and if they amuse you then SHARE the giggle and send more examples addressed to David Phin using the 'contact' form before mid April 2008
